Cap Formentor, Majorca

Cap Formentor Lighthouse

Resurfaced last year the ride to Cap Formentor lighthouse is probably the most popular bike ride on Majorca. It makes for a tough indoor interval climbing session. Multiple climbing repeats will strengthen your legs, and increase your climbing stamina – will you be ready for the final suprise climb after pushing hard up the climb most people call the finish?

Cap Formentor (The Lighthouse Ride) Training Video

If Sa Calobra is the most iconic climb on Majorca, then the “ride to the lighthouse” Cap Formentor from Porta Polenca must qualify as the most popular single ride.
Usually ridden as a first and/or last day ride it is quite simply one of the best 25 mile rides in Europe. Constantly changing views, long sweeping climbs on perfect Tarmac – even the tunnel adds character.
This training session takes in the full return route including the extra climb up to Talai d'Albertux from the top of the first climb the Coll de Sa Creueta before returning to the popular route on to the lighthouse and back – will your legs cope with another climb up to Talai d'Albertux?
Seriously, if you’ve cycled out to Cap Formentor and not added this extra climb then you’ll be kicking yourself when you realise what you missed. Still, there’s always next years trip.
